FIVE SKINCARE TIPS FOR MEN

Dr. Dierickx has years of experience with helping men finding a customized skincare regimen. The masculin skin needs to be addressed differently. Men typically have thicker, more sebaceous (oily) skin with increased hair density.

A healthy skincare regimen has to work with every lifestyle, but it does not have to complicated. Here are 5 simple tips for men to maintain a complexion that is healthy, clean and smooth.

1.Wash your face daily and after exercise. Wash your face with a mild Medifacial cleanser and lukewarm water. Never use a soap bar, as its ingredients can be drying to the skin.

2.Shave smart. For some men, multi-blade razors cause irritations. If you often experience razor burns or ingrown hairs, use a single- or double-blade razor instead. Before you shave, wet your skin and hair to soften it. Use a moisturizing shaving cream and shave in the direction of hair growth.

3. Prevention is key. Wear sunscreen! When it comes to keeping skin in good shape, prevention is key. Make using a broad spectrum sunscreen part of your daily routine.

4. Check your skin regularly. New spots or moles that itch, bleed, or change color can be early warning signs of skin cancer. If you notice any suspicious spots, make an appointment to see your dermatologist.

5. Know your skin. Choose your skin care products according to your skin type. If you have acne-prone skin, look for cleansers and moisturizers that say “oil free” or “non-comedogenic,” to prevent clogged pores. For sensitive skin, use mild and “fragrance free” products, as products containing fragrances can leave your skin feeling irritated and dry.
